Jigsaw Structures Ltd & City, University of London are pleased to announce a successful funding bid for the Innovate UK – NATEP: helping SMEs innovate in aerospace Autumn 2020 Competition. The ALFA Seal 18-month project starts in May 2021 with the support of Airbus in the UK as an interested party and potential end-user.
The industrial-academic partnership between Jigsaw Structures & City builds on the previous relationship established during the Innovate UK funded – Airbus led ALFET project which focused on civil aircraft wing laminar flow enabling technologies.
The aims of the ALFA Seal project are in support of eco-friendly aircraft design, expecting to reduce friction drag on the wing by approximately 50% and fuel consumption by 5%, resulting in significant reduction in CO2 emissions.
